Here’s a leaf out of our life
Over the past decade, we have travelled to 34 countries, not only to the famous landmarks, but to the quieter, less visited corners of each region. Down Italy’s vineyard lanes, through Spain’s sun drenched white villages, along Norway’s fjords where humpbacks and orcas breach the icy Atlantic waters, basked in the Greek beaches, shopped in the glitzy backstreets of the French Riviera, and witnessed the Aurora Borealis in the frozen wilderness of Finnish Lapland… a place so breathtakingly beautiful, it still feels surreal that Finland is actually our home!
Along the way, we have stayed in elegant farmhouses and luxurious mountain cottages, hiked forest trails and picnicked beside mountain streams, witnessed the Northern Lights dance overhead, and followed humpback and sperm whales through open ocean. We have savoured Michelin-star dinners in century-old converted churches and soaked in thermal pools overlooking the mountains and the sea.
What we discovered, across all these years and places, was the beauty of simply being present. The quiet luxury of being intentional, of truly being present in the moment, rather than just passing through.
After countless trips as a couple, with friends and family, and designing journeys for so many people we love, it is time to share that with the world. If you are drawn to travel that is deeply personal, intentionally slow, and quietly transformative, you are in exactly the right place.
Oh, and did we hear you ask why the name Masala Chai Travel?
We live in Finland, which is a cold country. Nonetheless we spend many of our evenings curled up in our living room sofa, with masala chai and biscuits in hand, researching our travel plans, down to every little detail. Hence the name, something close to our passion and our Indian roots!
